Q: What kind of systems do you install in your conversions?
A: We install high performance A/C (Alternating Current) and D/C (Direct Current) systems in our vehicles. We incorporate the latest in battery technology from AGM to Lithium Ion.
Q: How long does a conversion take?
A: A conversion can take from three months to a year depending on the project.
Q: What kind of range and performance can I expect from a conversion?
A: Range and performance depend on many factors; weight, aerodynamics, rolling resistance, choice of batteries, drive train components as well as driving style. In order to get the best range a donor vehicle must be evaluated in many different categories. Range can vary between 40 and 140 miles or more depending on the configuration.
Q: What does a conversion cost?
A: A basic conversion starts at $25,000. A more advanced conversion can cost as much as $100,000.
Q:What is the life expectancy of the batteries?
A: Battery life in AGM batteries is approximately 3 years. Nickel Metal Hydride and Lithium batteries can last up to 10 years.
Q: What kind of vehicles do you offer ready to order?
A: Classic Electrics has found several vehicles which have good profiles for conversions. We offer the Porsche Spyder and Speedster replicas for light weight sports cars, as well as conversions on several production vehicles such as the Volvo C30.
Q: How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
A: Depending on the setup charging can take as little as 4 hours but is generally done overnight. An 80 percent charge can be accomplished in several hours.
Q: What kind of power is required to charge the batteries?
A: At home 220V power is required, the same as is usually used to your household dryer. An additional 110V charger can be used to give the vehicle a boost when possible, but 220V is required to get a full charge and maintain the batteries at their optimal state.
Q: Can I get regenerative breaking?
A: A system with A/C will always include regen. There is D/C regen availible in certain configurations. Regenerative breaking generally adds 10 to 14% to the range of a vehicle.
Q: Can any vehicle be converted?
A: Yes. Even though it may not be the ideal vehicle, you may wish to convert a vehicle an older heavier vehicle because the style appeals to you.
Q: How much does it cost to operate and electric vehicle?
A: Depening on you cost of utilities, an electric vehicle can cost as little as $30 per month to operate. The operating cost of a gasoline powered vehicle is $.25 per mile, whereas an electric vehicle costs as little as $.12 even factoring the replacement of batteries.
Q: What is the next step in purchasing or converting an electric vehicle?
A: Give us a call at 303-709-3959. We will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
We look forward to building your next electric vehicle!
